Exciting first run for new apparatus

March 31st, 2008

The Schenectady Fire Department recently took delivery of a 2007 American LaFrance 100’ Mid Mount Tower. After firefighting orientation with the new apparatus and mounting the necessary equipment, Truck 2 was placed into service at approximately 3pm on November 15, 2007. Twelve hours later, Schenectady Fire Department was dispatched to a working fire and Truck 2 joined the Department’s 2001 American LaFrance 93’ Mid Mount Tower, Truck 1 at the scene. The two tower ladders delivered over one million gallons of water through elevated master streams during this incident. According to Department officials, Truck 2 performed exceptionally well during its maiden mission. One firefighter was treated for injuries and released.

This new aerial joins a fleet of four American LaFrance engines and one additional 93’ American LaFrance Mid Mount Tower Ladder all in front line service.
